Flight 2025

Hello!  Wow! It's been a while since I've blogged!  There are so many thoughts I intended to put aside to write about at a later time but have now forgotten or perhaps don't feel that they are all that interesting or important.  Instead I'll just type a little about my recent activity.  This past week Zachary and I took our first little aeroplane ride together back to my home town for a friend's wedding.  Shaun was unable to accompany us due to the wedding taking place during the week.  Our flight was about an hour and 10 minutes long inside an express jet which seats exactly 50 passengers.  Talk about a tight space.  Down below are some notes to self.

Things to do...
1. Bring a stroller!  Forget about trendy wraps/carriers.  Zachary was not a happy camper. Hot and sweaty baby equals hot and sweaty mommy.  Not fun while being eyed as a potential terrorist threat by TSA.

2. Pack a snack!  Considering I had no opportunity to sit and eat nachos as my glutinous heart desired, I was forced to eat a plump and greasy hot dog in which I could easily scarf down in about 2.5 sec while trying to soothe a cranky baby.

3. Forget about bring anything but the necessities! Scratch the special delivery of cookies for those back home as well as the banana bread for those up here which I had to carry on to the plane.

4. Make sure your cell phone is fully charged!  I soon discovered that those charging stations that you see everyone huddled around with their fancy electronics plug into is not capable of charging my phone.

5.  Empty your bladder prior to arriving at the airport.  I've yet to master holding infant while attempting to squat down onto a toilet and pee.

6.  Be sure to have your picture ID ready along with your boarding pass and NOT your medical insurance card.

7.  Be sure baby has a dry diaper prior to getting in line to passing customs.  Looks a little suspicious when you get out of line right before going through inspection.  Thankfully the customs agents could see Zachary was not a happy baby.

8.  Don't forget to take cell phone out of your pocket before passing through the metal detector. She (TSA officer) was not a happy camper!

9. Forget about putting your belt back on (after passing through metal detector) while trying to hold a fussy baby as well as a special delivery of cookies for those back home! Refer back to #3.

11. Forget cute two pieces for baby.  Stick to a onesie!  This will keep strangers from staring at your because your baby's belly is being exposed while you're attempting to juggle a dozen cookies while trying to wipe the sweat off your brow.

12.  Beware of explosive diapers while in mid air! Be prepared to carry baby off of airplane while is running up his back as well as down his legs.  Thank goodness for blue jean overalls.
13. Do not take baby off changing table in order to change table liner if baby is not wearing a diaper!  Urine  all over the wall of the bathroom stall next to us  not to mention mommy's jacket was not part of the plan.  Thankfully Zachary's pressure hose urine flow did not spray far enough into the bottom of the stall wall to get a lady's bag wet! I did apologize when she came out of the stall.  She hadn't even noticed.  Though, the bathroom cleaning lady did not look too happy about my collection of dirty wipes I had to throw on the flow for time being until I could be my sweet Zachary cleaned up.
